This conductor shot was a combination of available stage light (low ambient tungsten light) and an ALZO auto porta-flash placed directly behind the subject. The ALZO Porta flash light, fired with the ALZO Wireless flash trigger kit, creates a strong backlight which separates the subject from the background and adds a dramatic effect.

Setup: No softbox was used for this shot, just the flash at full power, about 8 feet directly behind the subject .

Camera settings: f-stop 2.8, AV mode, shutter 1/160 sec, no on-camera flash, ISO 1000.

Camera settings: Canon 580 EX II in TTL mode, on tripod. Aperture F-9, shutter speed 1/100 sec, no on-camera flash, ISO 640, .

Setup: Three flash lights, all of them bare. A 430 EX II flash light, stand-mounted, on the right, and an Auto Porta Flash on the left; another one behind the subject. 430 EX II was set to ETTL, triggered by a 580EX II on camera, master turned off, set to trigger only. The Auto Porta Flash on the left was set to half power, triggered by a radio trigger on camera thru pc sync.

Camera settings: ISO 3200

This outdoors shot combines evening light with light from a flash. These soft lighting conditions occurred at around 7:30 p.m. in Indiana in mid-September just before sunset. A single side/back light flash was used to create the hair highlight on the right side of the subject. The sunset was to the left of subject.

Setup: The ALZO ultralight softbox kit was aimed at the right side of the subject's head with a red gel taped to the flash. The remote flash was triggered with the ALZO wireless flash trigger kit.

Camera settings: Aperture 5.6, shutter speed was 1/160 sec on a mono pod, ISO= 500. Canon 580 ex II flash was set to manual @ 1/64 power, no on-camera flash.
